BikeAround helps the elderly with dementia

BikeAround pairs Google’s Street View with projected imagery and a physical bicycle, allowing elderly patients with dementia to return to meaningful places (such as their childhood home, or a first-date location) to help bring back memories. Not only is it mentally stimulating, but it fulfils the recommendation that dementia patients perform physical activity as well.

Scientists believe that calling on memories tied to locations in this way can trigger a dopamine release, which may have positive effects on memory management and retention.
