Nike’s elaborate interactive football pitch generates personalised social content

In spectacular fashion, Nike launched two new additions to the famous Mercurial range of football boots recently. The Mercurial Superfly 360 and the Mercurial Vapor 360 made their debut alongside sporting superstars Neymar, Sanchez and Ronaldo at Nike’s 2018 Innovation Summit in London.

The centerpiece featured an elaborative interactive soccer pitch, encircled by 270° LED screens and embedded with illuminating lights. Participants were invited to take to the pitch in a time trial challenge, darting over the lights embedded into the pitch to take a shot on goal.

Content on the 270° LED wall reacted to player’s on pitch activity, simulating unique crowd environments, cheetah graphics, animated patterns and other brand material.

Video souvenir

Participants received a 10-15s video souvenir at the end, which applied unique CGI effects to their recording such as defenders, cheetahs and a swirling red whirlwind. Their own footage was interspersed with quick cuts to Mercurial TVC footage and featured their name at the end. Participants were encouraged to share on social using the #BornMercurial and #FastByNature hashtags.

We’ve collected a few from Twitter below.

Other installations at the event featured customisable football kits and a kinetic lighting installation made entirely of Mercurial football boots.
