Chai-Fi: Free WiFi in a tea kettle for Indian manual workers

India is home to the second-largest population of workers in the world, many of whom work 16+ hour days with few breaks, and no opportunity to enjoy entertainment on the internet.

Chakra Tea, a popular Indian tea brand, has delivered a unique tea kettle that outputs an open WiFi signal using energy generated from a stovetop. The innovation gives hard working manual labourers the opportunity to enjoy music, videos and sport from the internet while also enjoying a cup of tea with their workmates.

The tea kettles are being distributed in Central India at tea stalls which are popular among the workers.
